Dysprosium carbonate, Dy2(CO3)3

Dysprosium carbonate, Dy2(CO3)3.4H2O, an insoluble powder formed by treating an aqueous suspension of dysprosium hydroxide with a current of carbon dioxide, loses 3H2O at ordinary temperatures. In contact with saturated aqueous ammonium carbonate, it is slowly converted into sparingly soluble, crystalline dysprosium ammonium carbonate, (NH4)3Dy(CO3)3.H2O, which begins to lose ammonia at 60°.
