Dysprosium Applications

Dysprosium practical use is still limited. In small amounts dysprosium is contained in phosphors, magnetic alloys and special glasses. In future dysprosium may be used as a catalyst in radio electronics and chemical industry.

Some reports inform of zircon doping with dysprosium, erbium and samarium which significantly improves its shaping ability. Some information of zinc doping is also available.

Dysprosium is used in soft medical lasers with 2.36 micron wavelength for glaucoma and skin malignant disease treatment.

Dysprosium lamps light spectrum is the closest to the natural light.
